If they stick to the novel, the third season should be mostly flashbacks as they clean up whatever they didn't do in the first and second season, such as the Wilhelmina flashback in novel 10 and the Pheles flashback in novel 14. The part where Yuuji gets hunted by Sairei no Hebi should be in the latter third of the season as the last arc, unless the novel goes farther than that in the next year. And if it does, you can consider that the ending instead.

By the way, that ending can't be possible because Yuji picked Shana at the end, meaning he's seen the letters and already made his choice. The only thing that hasn't happened is the Sairei no Hebi making his move towards Yuuji.

Here's what I think.

The anime does follow the novels to a degree, like back in the first season, it followed it up until novel 8, after the Shana flashback at Tendou Kyu. This is where the anime splits off to make an anime ending original. This means that Yuuji never obtained the large amount of power of existance in the novel. Season two's ending was done to correct that error since Yuuji lost most of his power of existance before getting back the Reiji Maigo.

So Season three shouldn't have much of the same opening than season two did, although they'll have to develope more on Ike and Yoshida a little, as well as Yuji and Shana, which should take up the first 5 episodes or so. After that should be the flashback sequences, then maybe some fillers, and then the final arc. Or they'll make shana 3 13 episodes long.

No that is incorrect. Yuji lost the power of existence he had sucked up, but what happened to him in the first season was that he continuously get ALL that power of existence every time he gets refilled. It is his ability to suck up existence to became greater, not just the amount of existence he had.
