I don't see it as such. Like I said, to me (and I hope most of everyone else) there's a clear difference between real life and cartoon characters. Much like girls in Japan reading yaoi... it excites them, but it's so far from their reality that they don't have any concerns about it.

Well, it depends. In most anime doujinshi, including most for SnS and Fate/Stay, the females aren't really being "violated," as you put it. It's usually consensual, because they're in love, and they're usually around the same age.

By putting yourself in the position of the person "violating" her, you would actually just be wishing that when you were Yuuji's age, you had experienced the same life, meeting an interesting girl, falling in love with her and then, naturally, partaking in sexual intercourse. (Of course at that age, that probably wouldn't happen but... like I said, it's not reality.)

That said, I don't like rape doujinshi either. And I would never masterbate to anime porn (I rarely even do it to real porn.), but I do enjoy a good nude anime pic once in a while. Nothing like a close-up of a vagina though, something tasteful and artistic or comedia, like say, a shower pic.

As a final point, I would like to say that sex is a part of human nature. IMO, the main reason doujinshi is made is because most anime and manga are missing this vital human concept, because of regulations on what can and can't be shown the the aimed audience. Some manga artists (such as Ken Akamatsu) have even made un-official sexual doujinshi of their works just because they couldn't put sex in their official manga due to regulation.

I concede that sexual intercourse is consensual in most doujinshi and that "violate" is not the most appropriate term I could've used (although I was thinking more of the most vile cases depicting rape by overweight, middle-aged, and disgusting men disguised as consensual). However, the fact that I consider even consensual sex as a "violation of purity" is evidence that I am a few centuries behind the times.

However, I appreciate tastefully done nudity as well. Despite whatever qualms I may have with human nature, there's no doubt the human body is a marvel of evolution and a thing of beauty.

Anyway, your points are valid and well-defended and I can't really find any faults in your argument and I don't have much of a countering it as mine is based purely on personal preferences. Why does everyone think Shana is underage? Because of here appearance? If there is any one thing that is proven by this show it is you can not judge the characters by how they look. Many of the characters in the series have histories going back hundreds or even thousands of years, and yet do they look like they are thousands of years old? No, of course not. It is also mentioned in the series (in fact one entire episode is devoted to this topic! Alastor addresses it directly in the show I am talking about.) That Shana's problem is that she has no experience dealing with the emotions of love. Not that she is 'underage'.

I personally think that flame hazes never age, but simply remain static, locked in the form of the physical body they were at when they first became a flame haze. I also suspect that Torches (yuji) is exactly the same. This is also a very strong reason why Yuji and Kazumi will never really be able to 'get together'. Because Yuji will never age, while Kazumi will eventually grow old and die because she is still human.

I personally think Shana is at least a one hundred to two hundred years old. Young in terms of the age of the typical flame haze, but quite old compared to any human.
