So, definitely not as good as Fire Emblem GBA or anything, I'd assume.

Well thanks for informing me.

Yeah, it's pretty lighthearted game, if you play it's more for the humor and cute girls.

>> No.16454

>>16448 Ah, that makes sense. I was more joking really.

>>16450 Well, I've only played the first of course, which in terms of Music, Monsters, and Dungeons, it's rather repetitive. However, the Story, Characters, and Battle System are all rather interesting. Also, it's not an SRPG, it's Turn-Based.

I've heard the second one has improved upon the problems with the first, so maybe the dungeons and enemies will be a bit more diverse.

>>16451 I did like her, but I think my favourite goddess is Vert. Not only is she a hot older lady, she's also into videogames(though most of the girls are), and is voiced by Rina Satou(the one who played Mikoto Misaka in Railgun/Index, who I really like). Also, there seems to be a tad bit of Yuri going on between her and IF. Though that may be just wishful thinking, she did seem to REALLY want to meet Vert and was rather nervous when she did.

>>16452 You should try it out anyway.

>it's not an SRPG, it's Turn-Based

I truly don't understand. SRPGs are usually turn-based, with arenas, as opposed to RPGs that are turn-based without environments. SRPGs being games like Ultima, FFT, Fire Emblem GBA, Valkyria Chronicles, and I think there's an SRPG segment in Live-a-Live. Then again, perhaps the first doesn't play like what I saw of the second.

>> No.16461

>>16457 Well, yes, SRPG are turn-based too, but I'm talking about a standard turn-based RPG. It isn't a strategy based game, like Disgaea for example. The first one at least has Random Encounters. The second, I have read, has enemies on the map screen who you can engage in combat or escape, perhaps that's what you saw. Neither of them are SRPGs.

From this, it looks like it's very much an SRPG, just not a typical, grid-based one, but free roaming like VC.

>> No.16464

>>16463 OH! So it is.

Well then, that means the gameplay is entirely different from the first, because it wasn't strategy.

It kinda reminds me of Breath of Fire 5, which had a battle system kinda like that.

Man, it looks much better than the first, gotta get this.

>> No.16465

BTW, I looked into the story of MK2, and I'm not entirely sure I like the "game sharing and Custom Firmware is evil" subtext.

Then again, it was made by a company, of course they think it's wrong. If this was an indie game, CFWs would probably aide you in combat or something.

Well, regardless on how you feel about piracy/emulation, you can appreciate that at least they did give it a meaningful story. Not only that, but they gave it a story meaningful to the target audience (video game enthusiasts)

>>16467 Yeah, but I just don't like propaganda in my games. I can overlook it, but it's still kinda sucky.

Mind if I whine?

I'm fucking pissed! I bought a copy of FF8 recently and THE FUCKING THING DOES NOT WORK. I tried everything I could. Tried cleaning it, having the game shop run it through their machine, even the toothpaste trick. In fact, I think I fucking ruined the thing.

I'm going to have to return in and buy another.

You have a PSP don't you? You can use that to run PS1 games.

>> No.16378

>>16377 Yeah, but can I do without custom firmware? If not I can't do it. I've tried, but with the current firmware I can't install any it seems.

Also, I'd need multiple memory sticks to put games on, and I can't really afford to buy a bunch of those.

And, one more thing, I really do prefer to play physical copies of games if I can. In fact, one of these days I'm gonna buy a SNES and stop using an emulator.

>> No.16379

>>16378
Custom firmware isn't difficult. And no you don't need a bigger memory card, you just need to be more selective about how many games you play at once.

I had an SNES once (and an NES, yeah I'm old), it was crap, fucking connectors would go to shit. Emulation of stuff that old is way better than dealing with cleaning contact pins. I dealt with it once, not going to do it again.

>> No.16380

>>16379 I know it's not difficult, but I can't install it.

From what I can tell, I needed to get custom firmware BEFORE I upgraded it to it's current official firmware. I forget which version it was.

Dude, I can't play 1 game at a time, what's wrong with you?!

What are you talking about? Even the latest version, 6.60, has cfw available.

And just to note, I generally try to stick to one game at a time, two at most. Any more that that and I never finish them.

>> No.16386

>>16382 Now, see, there's the thing. I don't know what I'm talking about, see?

Last time I looked up how to install custom firmware, everything I found did not work with 6.60. There's a lot of shit I have to do to do this. It's a tad confusing. I already have a PS2 and a PS3 that's backwards compatible with PS1 games, I don't need nor want to use my PSP to do it. End of story. I'm just old fashioned that way.

Well, sadly I can't stick to one at a time.

>> No.16387
> I know it's not difficult

My first impulse as a cognitive researcher is to ask how similar would you rate these two phrases? But that would be wrong.

>> No.16388

>>16387 Being difficult and being confusing are too different things.

Card games(and board games) are confusing, but once you get the hang of things their not that hard.

Similarly, things can be confusing but not hard(aside from being confusing).

I also got El Shaddai today too, so I'm not sure which to play.

Hey guys, tech question. I just hocked up my PC with an HDMI cable in order to get the most out of the new graphics card. However, dispite setting teh screen resulution to what is was before, it isn't finning teh whole screen up, there is a black boarder around teh screen, slightly shringing everything, and not really useing teh full real estate. Does anyone know how to corret this? This mock up is provided to get across the effect of what is happeneing.

Very late answer, but... all you need to do is go into the settings of your video card (in ati cards, it's the amd control center program). And play around with the overscale/underscale options to make it fit perfectly on your hdtv.

btw, hdmi is the exact same as dvi in terms of picture quality. Only difference is that hdmi also carries audio while dvi doesn't do audio.
